‘Top Fluctuation’ (otherwise known as Best Fluctuation), prices are used in the Mr. Racing results compilation for the win bets.  For the exotics, STAB dividends are used.

Top Fluctuation is a product offered that guarantees the best official betting fluctuation recorded on-course as reported by the Australian Prices Network. 

For example, you back Kingston Town at best fluctuation.  It opens in the betting at odds of 4.0, drifts to 5.0 before being backed into 3.8 (as recorded by the Australian Prices Network).

Should Kingston Town win, you will be paid at the top odds of 5.0.  If you had $10 on Kingston Town, your profit would be an extra $12 (as opposed to the Starting Price), for very little extra effort.  This translates to massive profits over the medium to long-term.

Top fluctuation is an excellent product; especially for betting on Sydney and Melbourne metropolitan meetings.  The market at top fluctuation often dips below 100% in the Sydney metropolitan betting ring.

The majority of bookmakers now offer the product including most on-course bookmakers and the online corporate bookmakers such as Sports Acumen, IASBet, and Sportsbet to name a few.

Some bookmakers require all Top Fluctuation bets to be placed by 12:00 pm, others require bets to be placed at least 30 minutes before the race is due to start (before the on-course betting market goes up).

As far as each-way betting at Top Fluctuation goes, generally speaking, you will not be allowed on.  Bets that winning punters want to make are generally the bets that the bookmakers do not want to take.

If you look hard enough, you will find bookmakers willing to take the bets.  The only online corporate bookmaker I am aware offering each-way betting at ¼ the Top Fluctuation price is Sportsbet.  They will allow you bet each-way at Top Fluctuation as long as there isn’t an odds-on favourite in the field or when a field consists of only eight or nine runners.  This is still an exceptional offer.

No bookmakers will bet place only at Top Fluctuation.  If they did you could throw the formguide away and get the best of the bookies in an instant by carefully selecting the races and horse to bet just based on simple mathematics.

Generally speaking, bookmakers do not allow you to specify a minimum price when making your Top Fluctuation bets.  The online corporate bookmakers due to the computer systems used, cannot facilitate minimum price Top Fluctuation betting.
