England v India – 2nd ODI

India were soundly beaten in the first ODI at the Rose Bowl, and there is a danger that they miss a player or two to flu tonight, but I still believe they are the stronger One Day side even in English conditions. The conditions played a big part in the thrashing they received in Southampton, due in large part to Rahul Dravid misreading the conditions. Batting conditions were at their best during the day and, as is often the case in England, the ball swung round corners in the evening. The good news is it means a nice juicy price on the Indians for tonight’s encounter and I would recommend backing them at the tasty $2.45 at Racing Odds, or go to the $2.35 at Sportsbet. Quite simply I would have India as favourites unless they lose a couple of their big names to illness tonight, due to the chances of this happening we must bet with a little less certainty, however, I still couldn’t make a case for them being any bigger than 6/5 ($2.20). Have 4 points on them to win tonight and hope that they sent someone to the chemist in time.

We should expect runs tonight at the County Ground in Bristol according to the curator who says he has prepared a “300 wicket”. If this is true then we should also expect a mountain of Tom Mixers. Bristol is a very small ground, with even mis-hits often sailing over the ropes and with the likes of Pietersen, Flintoff, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Yuvraj and of course Mahendra Singh Dhoni then the number of sixes tonight could easily go into double figures. I struggle to see it making up less than 3 or 4 and would personally set the mark at around 7.5. If you can bet at Spreadfair then the buy mark there of 7 is nice. The weather is also expected to be fine so there isn’t too much danger of rain spoiling our fun. Buy 1 unit at the 7.0, if you cannot get on there then you can buy at 7.25 at IG or 7.3 at Sports Acumen or Sporting Index but I would suggest only buying for 0.3-0.5 units at those marks.
