NBL Round 7
Hawks v Perth
The home town Hawks will try to deny the Wildcats their third straight victory.
It looks like they will be without their best defender and most consistent three point bomber in Mat Campbell. Word is he has not pulled up well from the last start loss against the Blaze where he was held to two points in the second half. New import Gerald Brown is some chance of playing for the Wildcats but they will rely heavily on Shawn Redhage who is averaging 34 points per game in his last 3.
The Hawks have two very underrated forwards in Ben Castle and Larry Davidson who can restrict the Perth frontcourt enough to be competitive.
Franklin and Tragardh have combined for an average of over 50 points in their last 3 matches together to form a formidable duo. The pair will have to put up massive numbers to stay with the visitors. Interesting stat from last season was Perth being 10-1 in their next game after keeping an opponent to between 80-90 points. They have kept 2 opponents this season in this range but have failed to deliver in the following game both of those on the road so am sure Scott Fisher will have his men primed to deliver a valuable road win.
Selections – Perth/Perth @ 1.80 Sportingbet (Halftime/Fulltime) - 2 units
– Player Performance Kavossy Franklin Over 25 points 2.30 at Centrebet - 1 unit
Franklin will have to play 40+ minutes and score heavily for the under strength Hawks. He has a good record against Peter Crawford.
Townsville v Razors
Both teams had impressive wins last start. The 100 million dollar question now is how do the young Razors back up after their massive victory over the Kings? They have had some pretty impressive wins on the road this season and they have a very good coach so I wouldn’t put it past them.
The Crocs will look to secure back to back wins at home and move up the ladder. Homicide Williams has been an astute buy for the club. Their home court is one of the toughest to overcome in the league so they go into this one quite confident. With an upcoming road double header from hell against Sydney and Melbourne this is a pretty important game for them in the context of their season.
I am anticipating a high score in this one. The Razors have conceded an average of 111 on the road this season. The home club has had their fair share of defensive woes this season as well. Not only that they are averaging an embarrassing 91 points at home so they will be looking to run up a big score on their opposition. These two teams squared off in round one running the total up to 230 including overtime. The Williams and Hinson matchup should set the tone. Both players just love to get out in the open court and run.
Selection – Townsville/Townsville @ 2.0 Sportsbet (Halftime/Fulltime) - 1 unit
The Razors won’t be changing their style of play and the home club will enjoy the wide open spaces that Homicide Williams will create for them. Both clubs have some important games coming up next week so I am not expecting much defence to be played in this one.
